Yeah, it would be as close to a time warp as you can get... Here is a document talking about the first "US divers" in cuba after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Its about operation Mongoose.

Myron, that's a tough question to answer since there are so many places I have yet to visit. I'd have to say someplace in the South Pacific -- fiji, palau, truk, yap. I would want to do the diving from my sailboat. Since I was just down in Bonaire, I could live with that too.
