Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Cool Terry! I got certified in 1978 but lost some of the early logs in Hurricane Andrew. Here are a few hightlights from the summary page you saw when I started keeping track again - 400th dive was in the Florida Keys with my son Ralph 05/20/01, 500th Key Largo 10/13/02, 600th Key Largo 09/14/03, 700th Miami Beach night dive 10/20/04, 800th St. Marrten 06/19/06, 900th West Palm Beach 01/01/08, 1,000th Turks & Caicos with you 01/09/09, 1,100th Miami Beach night dive 09/16/09, (not all dives were tropical - 1,111th North Shore of Lake Superior 10/08/09 with you) now working my way to 1,200! Yippy!!!
All good divers log their dives - and should enjoy celebrating milestones!

Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Looks like a GREAT way to log all of your dives!
Lisa, you are lucky to live in a state where you can dive as much as you want. Terry, I agree with MOST of an older posting of yours, I REALLY wish I had started diving sooner! |

Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Mermaid, you live in a state with year round diving and the advantage it's also freshwater and cheap to dive. No matter where you are we have a lake with free access.
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Archflash,
It's too COLD for her to dive. I would think that it will be warm enough for her to dive in, oh let's say, mid July. Ha Ha Ha ;D |

Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Well that's true but we also have free beaches and lots of fresh water springs which are just a "little" warmer than your lakes LOL . . .

Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Just made dive 1000 on Sunday, May 2nd. (700 hours and 12 minutes) I was certified in 1998 and diving has become a passion to me. My only regret is also not starting sooner. I know of no other sport where beginners to the most experianced come together and have the same enthusiasm for the sport and nobody looks down on anybody because of lack of experiance, but will occasionally offer helpful advice. I would like to thank everyone that I have dived with and everyone that I will in the future.

Re: 1000 dives vs. 30 years
Congratulations Captain! That is an amazing feat if you think about it. Averaging 83.3 dives per year (or 7 dives per month) for 12 years. That is plenty of diving in anyones book! I was certified May 20th 2007 and I just past the 140 dive mark last week... so my average is only 46.6 dives per year for the last 3 years. At the rate Im going, I won't hit the 1000 dive mark for another 18.5 years at age 62. All anyone can do is hope to stay healthy that long.
