Diver litter at Wazee
We were diving at Wazee on April 3rd. The dives were great but we were more than a little disgusted with the litter left by divers, a condom wrapper held down by an apple core at the wall table and a used dive condom at the Sherwood Forest site. What's up with divers that leave that kind or any kind of trash laying around the dive sites? It reflects badly on all divers! Please pick up your trash as nobody else wants to.

Re: Diver litter at Wazee
Crosby is about 1 baby diaper away from being a landfill.
This planet is covered in trash and it's sad no matter where it is. It reflects badly on everyone. Diving has nothing to do with it. You get some people who like living in filth and they share it with everyone. I can't list all the times my day has been spoiled by finding trash on shore. If we could ticket more polluters I'd hope is would stop but sadly that's not going to happen.
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.

Joe,
I posted this on 3 forums to get to the largest number of divers I could as this IS a diver issue. If you think it's OK to leave trash around dive sites maybe you are part of the problem and not the solution. If not it shouldn't bother you that it was posted on multiple forums. All divers need to do their part to keep our dive sites clean and respectable. Brian

Oh, take it easy. Joe's comment was meant in good fun. I've dove with Joe several times and I've seen him pull trash out of the lake but never leaves any new trash.
Some may consider the training platforms with toilets and skeletons, cars, plane parts, sunken boats etc to be unnecessary trash but somehow we are OK with that. There is a line as to what you consider adding entertainment value and what is necessary litter. Clearly those additions were past your perception of the line. I'll agree with you that they are past my version of the line too. |

Re: Diver litter at Wazee
If you are referring to trash on the set-up "table", don't assume it is divers. The lake is in a county park that is used by hundreds of non-divers..... |

[/quote] The trash at the set up table "was" from divers. Condom catheter and packaging for same. Unless there is another possible explanation? Al |

Re: Diver litter at Wazee
The trash is nasty, I really can't see any reason they don't have trash cans year around.
If you go, watch out for the wood-ticks too, they are out already! Had one on Saturday. |

Re: Diver litter at Wazee
that's a very interesting comment, although i think your logic is flawed. at no point do i condone or admonish people littering in my previous post. actually, i was amused by your assumption that it was divers... unless you witnessed it, it could have been anyone... and if you did witness it, its pretty passive-aggressive to post about it later.
as for qualifying myself, i've taken quite a bit of trash out of lakes and dive sites, and at no point have i complained about it. i do agree that it's a pain to have to pick up after people. ---as the chemist i also have to note that trash is usually part of the precipitate. Joe, I posted this on 3 forums to get to the largest number of divers I could as this IS a diver issue.
