Green Lake Ice 2-20-2010
We did a training dive today with the Safety Rescue folks on Green Lake. We wanted them all trained in tending us with com gear and just using rope signals. During the training we did spy some anchors and it would not be right if we just left them there. I just finished hanging up my gear to dry and thought I would post some photos from today. The first set of four photos is of Art sawing the hole.

Re: Green Lake Ice 2-20-2010
This next set of photos is kinda crazy... I saw this carp at about 150' from the hole. I grabbed the fat little bugger and gave tugs for the free ride to the hole. When I got to the hole and hoisted that carp, the look on Shooters face was priceless. The first photo is me getting ready to splash in with the AGA mask. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are more of the fish. This was one of the weirdest things I have done while diving.

We only did one hole today as these County folks were only up to a four hour day. ??? The ice was about 30" give or take. Nice day though.

The three of us (Art, Shooter, and I) ended up finding 8 anchors, a rod and reel, a reel, and a carp. This last set of four photos was the scrap iron pile. ( one of the photos is of Shooters artwork on my Jeep )

Funny, I used to write down where I found an anchor and now in the logbook it just says "...found some anchors..."
I guess we found a 2 cell Maglight today also. I put fresh batteries in it and it works really good.

You seriously wrestled a fish?!?!?!

That is sooo cool.  I keep trying to catch them but they are too fast for me.

Re: Green Lake Ice 2-20-2010

He was slippery so it was more like giving a bear hug to a greased pig. Believe it or not I stuck my fat gloved finger down his sucker mouth and inflated my BC with the other hand before giving the signal to pull me back. Two weeks ago I had a big bullhead in my hand with that one tine on his back locked in between my fingers when I tugged four times on the rope. I was expecting a fast pull but Shooter really pulled me in fast. I was cruising toward the hole and I almost hit that old wood boat that ArcFlash and I found earlier. When I arched my back to gain altitude and get over the boat, I lost my grip on the bullhead. It was that dive that we adopted a new rope signal: 3 tugs = "I found the target so pull me in kinda nicely".

Sounds like a bunch of fish stories but I swear its true.
