freediving long fin customizations anyone any ideas
call me currious, but some of the long freediving fins have graphite or other composite insert blade that is inserted into a generic fin. im not that familiar with these blades, but im currious if anyone knows how the first ones were made? someone had to physicaly tincker with an old set and build some custom built ones. ...my interest is that its mid winter and if there is a way that do-it-yourselfers make long fins out of short id like to know and experiment making a set. it looks like basicaly they are just a plate of graphite sheet with brass holes to connect to the leading edge of the foot pocket. how difficult can that be. also this kind of experimentation is usefull in finding the right balance of length and width to a particular indiividuals preference.....

well, first off, I'd start with full foot pockets...  the easiest way would be to start with a footpocket like the OMER, that has interchangeable blades.. that way you could test your designs easily.  Cressi footpockets look like they might be easily modified to exchange the blades too.  I thought several years ago about doing exactly this.. just getting lazier in my older age.
