Quarry Park is Open.

Great News Folks,  I just got a message from Lisa and Ed at Underwater Sports Adventure that Quarry Park in Waite Park, MN is now open for recreational divers.    Congratulations to all of you that made that happen.

This now gives us another great recreational Diving area within a hours drive of the Metro.  15 minutes if I'm driving.  ;D

WOOHOO! IT HAS HAPPENED!
~ QUARRY PARK IS OPEN FOR RECREATIONAL DIVING!


The attached information sheet will tell you what you need to know prior to diving in Stearns County Quarry Park.  We are very excited and pleased it has finally happened.  A BIG thank you to Stearns County Quarry Parks and the Citizen Advisory Committee who have worked hard to make this possible.

I went out and took a few surface pictures here today.  It looks like a neat place to dive.  All but quarry 18 are fairly far from the parking.  For comfort, all would really require some type of cart.

Quarry 18 - about 500 ft from parking (similar to Madeira befre parking lot, without the hill!)

Quarry 13 - about 300 ft farther down the trail, up a slight hill.

Quarry 11 - about 1/3 mile from the parking lot.

Quarry 1 - about 1/2 mile from the parking lot.

All quarries looked pretty clear, with the exception of Quarry 1, which looked to have only about 5-6 ft of visibility.  All others I would estimate with at least 20 ft.
