Re: Sporasub wetsuit
I wonder if you still can't get a tailor made elios for around $220.. I'm not sure about the price, but that's a heck of a deal for a very well made custom suit.
Cold and dark down there huh?

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
I bet you can as my last one was around $250- including shipping from Italy. If you went with a more basic suit than mine (plain opencell instead of black shadow lining and low density Neoflex rubber instead of medium density Heiwa) it should be even cheaper.

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
Alright guys, I've come to a conclusion on two different wetsuits.

It's either the Mares Apneology suit  (link bellow)

OR

The Picasso Apnos suit

Which is better?  Keep in mind I will be ice diving in it.

Thank you as always guys,

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
Hey guys, I'm gettin my paycheck soon so I've been doin' some hard thinking on these wetsuits because I am a very indecisive person  Tongue ..........

So, my plan would be, after labor day, I will call sporasub and see if they have the elite in a 5mm.  If they do not, then I am thinking of either getting the cressi competitors 5mm or the picaso apnos 5mm.  I've been doing a lot of research on both of these suits, and it seems as though the cressi is much easier to get on compared to the apnos, but does it compare in warmth?

What are you thoughts?  Pros and cons for the cressi and the picasso...

Thanks again,
JOSH

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
Josh,

I've owned both Cressi's and Picasso suits in the past and it's really a toss up.

They are both great suits that will keep you far warmer than any scuba wetsuit. If there was a big price difference I'd go with whatever's cheapest. If a little price difference you might want to go with the slick coating one- just because it's your first suit. After owning a bunch of these types of suits I would go straight opencell since it's warmer- but harder to put on.

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
keep in mind also that the 5mm suit is going to be plenty warm for most of the season diving... I only wear the 5mm in early spring and late fall and winter.. freediving around here is really a 2 or 3 suit deal... I wear my 3mil suit much more than my 5mil suit and wear my 1.5mil suit even less than the 5mil...I'm such a wuss.. What I'm saying is I love my 3mil suit and if I could only have one suit, it would be the 3mil... but in the spring and fall... it would be a 5mil suit.  Realize that you're not below the thermocline for that long of a time and the surface temp is usually pretty warm and sunny (if we're fortunate)  The water exchange on a good suit is virtually nil and  even with a 3mil suit on the only indication of the thermocline will be at your exposed face or through a poor pair of gloves or socks.

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
hey what do you guys think about the imersion seriole 5mm wetsuit.  I have not been able to buy one yet, but I am constantly reviewing all of your e-mails and posts as a refference while i look around.

I am leaning now more towards the seriole suit, it's a little cheaper than the picasso apnos suit, and the reviews say its a pretty good fit for someone who is tall and skinny, like me.  Plus, it saves me money, for I will hopefully be buying a tailored elios 3 mm for summer diving.  The main thing is will this seriole suit work for ice diving???

Thanks as always guys, you're a huge help.

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
I'd still check out the price on the elios suit. Another freediver I know just picked up a 3mm opencell/smoothskin custom suit from eios for $149!

Re: Sporasub wetsuit
Well thanks everyone for your input on my new suit.  I did end up buying the imersion seriole.  First, because of the cost, second, because from talking with other people, it seems as though it fits tall, slender people better than most suits.  (keep in mind this is just other info i received)

I plan on using the info. that i received on the elios suits, and purchase an elios 3mm for summer diving later in the spring of '07.

So thanks everyone and I can't wait to use it!
