Re: Ice diving
We've got a golden retriever.  A bundle of energy one and a half year old.
How about an ice dive this Saturday or next Saturday?  ANYBODY INTERESTED?? The pits are probably still accessable, or we could try Lone (just north of Mill Lacs), OR we could do Caribou (my favorite) just north of Grand Rapids.  I'd like to get an ice report from ANYBODY for Two Harbors.  IF/once the ice is sufficient I'd really like to dive the wreck on the inside of the far break water.
Let me know,

Re: Ice diving
I'm available to dive on Sunday.  I have a lake that's only about a block away from my house, it would be very easy for me to haul all my equipment down there(warming shack, heater,  Wheeler, coolers with hot water in etc.).  I could have a lot of the preliminary set upwork done.  The name of the lake is goose Lake http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=
US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&formtype=address&popflag=0&latitude=
&longitude=&name=&phone=&level=&cat=&address=46385+barbara+dr&city=
stanchfield&state=mn&zipcode=55080.  Ice conditions are good.  They're even people driving vehicles out there :o I have dove it  quite a few times in the summer and spring.  And I know of at least three or four anchors, that I left to there.
I'm chaperoning a ski trip at my son's school all day Friday.  So I'll have to work part of the day on Saturday.  We could dive Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon.  I wouldn't be able to make it to any of the distant locations this weekend. :'(

Re: Ice diving
Saturday afternoon  ;D ;D would work best for me ;D.  I'd be willing ta give Goose a try.
I could do Sunday "early afternoon" if Saturday just won't work.  The problem is... :Smile..Superbowl
is Sunday evening and Alyson and I already have plans.  I'd need to be home by 2 or 3 in order
to get gear put away and get ready and go. Would Saturday afternoon work for you??
I could arrive early and do some set up also as I'm free on Saturday.  Just let me know.

P.S.  loved your thread on Fossil diving the Arcadia river Way Way kooool!!

Re: Ice diving
Got a message from Bill over  the weekend.  Sounds like the ice diving will be this weekend
at Mille Lacs.  I have a message into him as to exact locations and times.  As soon as I have
the info I will updated on this thread.

Re: Ice diving
I look forward to your updatedness!  :Smile  Hopefully the temperatures (I hate to admit it but I've
been listening to weather forecasters!  OH MY GawD!  :o)  will not be below the 20's.  As you know
I do not dive dry.  THis means that in order for me to do a second dive I have to put on wet gear.
NOT a pleasant experience when the temperatures are really COLD, even though I "preheat" my stuff.
I've also experienced some problems with minor freeflow since I started using my "monkey mask."
(Full face mask utilizing standard 2nd stage reg.  Really does look like a monkey face!) I have a new
idea (A mini wetsuit and heating pad for my 1st stage) which I'll be trying out hopefully this weekend
with you and Smith at Mille Lacs.

ps  Who moved our thread??  ???  Great idea, though.  IT IS more appropriate for diving Get Togethers.
Either that or this thread has "gone to the dogs." (at least the photos have!  Wink)

Re: Ice diving
Diving is on! ;D Received a call from our fearless leader, Instructor Bill King,
and we are set for at least 2 days of diving and possibly a night dive! 8) 8)
Sat feb. 11 at 10:00am and also diving sun feb 12 at the red door resort( )
It is located on the north side of the lake. Click on the link for detailed directions and more info.
I plan on being there for both days of diving. I am going to check with the resort about staying there.
I will have a heated shelter and a fish cooker for heating water.
It looks like you can rent heated fish houses also, might be a good place to change and keep warm.

Re: Ice diving
We'll see you up there on Saturday!  ;D  We're going to spend Friday night at the
Casino and preheat in the hot tub. ;D  I've heard that there's 20 inches on the lake
so we'll be bringing our van which I"ve used in the past as a place to change wet.
So I'm really hoping that the weather forecasters are wrong.  The current projected
high for Saturday is 17 degrees.  :o :o This really makes me want to dive from INSIDE
a heated shelter rather than outside.  :-\ But I really do like the idea of diving Mille Lacs.  ;D
See you Saturday morning!  Big Grin

Re: Ice diving
if you guys like diving Spectacle, why don't you try Goose?

the viz has been 20'+ all winter, and maybe you while you're down there, you can tell
me where the fish are hiding...

Re: Ice diving
I am patiently standing by awaiting a line tender.  Hearing the reports of the 20' visibility makes me
more eager to dive.  As to where those fish are is all we would have to do is move some of those
Christmas trees to under your hole,  And I'm sure your luck would improve greatly :o
