Dive Reels
I am in the market for a new reel and wanted to get some opinions. I currently have a Dive Rite gap reel and am looking for something a little bigger with more line on it. Ideally I would like something with more than 250' of line on it. I like the dive rite reels but the bigger ones seem a little cheap to me. Anyone have any recommendations? I do almost all cold water diving so a nice big knob would be nice. I will be mostly be using my new reel for blowing lift bags for up lines on some deeper dives.
Thanks for the help. eric |

Re: Dive Reels
I've got a Halcyon Pathfinder 400 and like it a lot. It's got a nice knurled stainless steel lockdown screw and the reel is very easy to hold with dry gloves. Also it's the side handle kind which makes it possible to hold the reel and your dive light head in the same hand. DiveRite makes one similar to the Halcyon.

Re: Dive Reels
That Pathfinder is a nice looking reel, what do they go far?

Re: Dive Reels
I believe the Pathfinder 400 goes for around $140. Air Down There Scuba is a Halcyon dealer. Not sure if they have any in stock though.

Re: Dive Reels
Seatasea in Iowa might have one. Hes a Halcyon dealer and stocks a fair amount.

Re: Dive Reels
Halcyon, it doesn't get any better.
