Physician Divers
I wanted to take an informal poll and was wondering how many MN divers are also physicians. Are there any physicians in the twin cities area that cater to divers?

Re: Physician Divers
I'd also be interested to know if there are any doctors that cater to divers. Most of the doctors that I've dealt with don't have time to see all the drug company reps that come in, let alone learn about dive physiology.

Re: Physician Divers
There are doctors at the HCMC hyperbaric chamber facility. I believe they are DAN members. If not, DAN would have names for the area. Also, the LDS's may have some names as well.

Re: Physician Divers
There are more than 100 diving physicians in Rochester, MN. They also have their own experts in Hyperbaric Medicine ( mostly NASA specialists). They are planning to install a chamber in Rochester in the near future. It is going to be used by the aeronautics industry to study the effects of prolonged above atmosphere altitudes on non trained people. The future of air travel is going in that direction, so they want to know what the effects would be. Divers get to learn a little bit more, without our direct funding.

Re: Physician Divers
There are Physicians and Pharmacists, and nurses who are also divers scattered around the twin cities. The specialists in hyperbaric medicine deal with people that have a variety of illnesses not just DCS. I don't believe those doctors see patients for routine exams. They are available for consultations though, from you or your personal doctor. My doctor at Midwest internal medicine is also a diver and uses her knowledge and that of her group to make decisions regarding my health care. I also work with doctors, nurses and Pharmacists who are divers at Abbott Northwestern.

Re: Physician Divers
I went into the after-hours care center in Grand Forks, ND to get treatment for a sinus infection I week before a scheduled trip to florida in Jan. Turns out the MD ( who only works the after-hours clinic) was quite recently Dive Medical Officer for SAR outfit. The experts are among us!
Non-divers seem so, well, shallow.
