DUMB QUESTION: how to safely remove mold from a silicon mask skirt?

I found two methods that don't work. I found a mask at the bottom of a lake once and it was really nasty. Since it was a cheap mask and I was lazy, I didn't want to put much effort into cleaning it. I tried running it through the dishwasher and the washing machine, but neither worked.
