S.S. Meteor Project April 30 and May 1st
GLSPS 2011 S.S. Meteor Project

The GLSPS is heading up north to Superior Wisconsin for the seventh Annual S.S. Meteor Project. We gather 60 to 70 volunteers to help stabilize and preserve the S.S. Meteor. This one of a kind Whale back Ship was built in 1896 and was converted to a Museum in 1971. The GLSPS and the friends of the Meteor have been keeping the synergy going in keeping it stabilized and preserved. She was getting old and we decided to make a difference.  Our last six years of hard work provided the Meteor with a new lease on life.
Last year, when the project was done, Susan Anderson (Director of the SPM at the time) said "It looks 30 years younger"!!  So we will work hard to keep it looking young with her six year face lift.

The Meteor needs our continuing help and support to preserve this very valuable history resource that it endures. If you would like to help and have always wanted to work on a ship, please come join us. (You don't have to be a member of the GLSPS to work on this project)!  There are more details about the S.S. Meteor project on the GLSPS Website at, . Please log on to the website, even if you are not a member, to check it out.  Please contact Phil Kerber if interested.
