Re: Portsmouth Night Dive
I had a similar experience in Mahnomen 2/3 back in late june. Carl & I entered the water about 10pm. Below the thermocline we only saw eelpout, which was interesting in itself as i had never seen one while diving, but then we moved above the thermocline and we saw large bass, crappie, bluegill, trout, and northern. Our bottom time was 52 minutes. We ended up in on the other side of Mahnomen 3 across from the ramp, low on air, with a long surface swim ahead of us. Even the surface swim was great. The water was smooth as glass, full moon, sky full of stars. We just layed on our back and slowly kicked our way accross the lake. It was one of the best dives of my life.
