Re: Perferred / Recommended Ice diving rope
In practice you will see many types of line (rope). I've had instructors and friends use 3/4 nylon laid line, Hollow Poly, Twisted Poly, Diamond braid nylon... I don't know what's the best but I can only recommend that you should inspect any line you're about to dive for yourself and decide if it's what you want to trust.
I prefer bright yellow 1/2 hollow poly. The line I have is listed as minimum break 2880lb. A common number is 5 to 7 times your load, say 200lb for non-overhead or rescue situations. That said, I should used water rescue line.... but I inspected this line and I'm confident that it's safe for my diving needs. IMO, Anything that sinks is bad. Common lines are 130 and 150 or 150 and 200. I have a personal comfort zone of about 100 feet. I've had things happen and I'm happy being close to the hole.
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.
