Re: If you could only dive 1 "destination" in the "whole world" for the rest of
I heard that there is a movie called "The Bucket List". I have not seen it but I guess its about a couple of oldsters that have written down all the things that they want to do before they die and they put them in a bucket.
I guess If I had a bucket list of dive sites world wide I would just have Cuba written on a single piece of paper in the bottom of that bucket. They say that there are more Spanish era wrecks there per square mile than anywhere else in the world. I have heard that even Castro has a private island just off Cuba where he has two pristine galleons in a lagoon where only his personal divers have access to them. I heard that every once in a while he sends divers down to get some treasure just so he can look at it and hold it. I have also read that just in Havana Harbor alone there are over 200 anchors. Now I have about 13 years to work before I retire and Fidel and his brother will surely be dead by that time. If some other dictator doesn't jump in to power, there will be millions of dollars to be made in the tourist trade alone not to mention the treasure. I think it could be the next Hawaii as far as tourism and the next Atocha or Black Swan as far as treasure goes. Cuba would be the dive site that I could spent the rest of my days. |
