This was an interesting article, as it takes PADI to task for placing its marketing concerns over diver education safety.  As a new diver I have experienced both a great deal of professionalism with PADI trainers and some who acted in a more lackadaisical fashion. 

I must agree with the statement that the dive operators in resort areas do not adhere to the recommended depth limits.  With the sinking of ships for resort divers to explore who are not wreck trained, this only makes the problem worse.

We need to emphasize that each of us take full responsibility for our own safety, and that all that PADI can do is provide us with the tools to do so.  In that regard, I would agree with CDNN that more training, not less, is needed.
