Lake Calhoun Beach Closed
Bacteria alert closes beach at Lake Calhoun
Star Tribune August 4, 2005 CALHOUN0804 The north beach at Lake Calhoun has been closed temporarily because of a pollution alert, according to the Minneapolis Park Board. The beach was closed Tuesday after routine tests found elevated levels of E. coli bacteria, which can cause intestinal illness. No cases of illness have been reported, according to Sara Aplikowski, water resources coordinator. She said the beach will be reopened when E. coli levels drop to safe levels. Maura Lerner |
