Madeira

Thinking of diving the Madeira up at Split Rock next weekend Jan.10th. Does anyone know if it is open? Anyone interested just let me know. Accomodations seem to be cheap up there.

I know that SD&T went up there the last weekend of December and had no problems. (Scuba Dive & Travel) I heard water temps around 40 degrees. The air temps were close to above freezing that weekend so that wasn't much of an issue.

Sounds like a fun time. I'd be up for doing the Madeira over the winter only if the air temps were in the 30's so I don't turn into an icycle getting out of the water. Getting out of the water in below freezing temps and having my drysuit, gear, etc. freezing solid doesn't sound like much fun. I won't be able to join you next weekend since I'm going to the Timberwolves game. If you do go post a dive report for us.

It was open this past weekend Jan.3-4 the water temps in the mid to upper 30s and the air temps 2 above to 6 below so it was better in the water than out.
It was a great mid winter excursion.

I believe Scuba Dive and Travel is going up to dive the 18th. I'm sure they will post something this week to let everyone know the plan. I'm sure I'll be going up unless I hear it is an ice out.....

Plan on staying the Night in Silver bay than diving. Would you be interested in diving on Sunday instead or would Sat be better?

Oh ho this sounds good to me. Sombody convince me I'm nuts for wanting to do this wet :o. I really want to go. First weekend off since October. ;D Anyone know the forcast? Anyone have a van I can change/defrost in??
