Re:June 14-15th
14th and 15th are set in stone unless a catastrophe should happen near those dates. the boat is running good if we want to use that, the waters are a balmy 61 deg. and warming fast, still clear. Hope lots o' folks plan to come on over.. a while back Gary @ tri-state diving mentioned he might have his dive boat available (haven't worked out the details on that one though)

Cool...sounds good Fred! I still plan on coming up. A boat would be awesome. I haven't yet done a dive from a boat. Smile

Re:June 14-15th
O.K. - O.K... I'm bringing this post back to the top.. put it on your calendar if you haven't already.. diving in the Vergas, Dent, Detroit Lakes area. Read some of the previous posts here for more info. Everyone's welcome! Bring your family (I know it's fathers day and all). If your children would like to learn to water ski between dives I'll gladly teach them.. (I've taught maybe 70 kids or so to water ski, I'm getting good at it - teaching that is), kids first.. then if some of you old foggies Wink want to ski or learn how maybe you'll get your turn too. The cabin will be open for use of the restroom..and cooking (we have a large grill too), one fridge/freezer should be empty too. Depending on who of my rellies show up it might be open for sleeping space.. the boathouse will be cleaned up by then so if the weather is inclement that would be a good place to throw some sleeping bags/pads on the floor too. Lot's of room to pitch a tent in the yard, easy to drive stakes (sand), Not sure yet what the Dent,Vergas area has for hotels, b&b's, cabin rentals, etc.. but maybe I can find out or you can do some homework. Perham has a Super 8 or similar. Perham and Vergas are kinda neat touristy towns. Dent is as the name implies... From the cabin, as previously mentioned Dent- 5mi., Vergas- 10mi., Perham-14mi., Detroit Lakes - 25 mi., etc., etc., My boat can handle 4 divers easily, 5 o.k., 6 not so good (it's an 8 passenger boat) and there is lot's of good shore diving in the area or we could run the boat back and forth some. Let's pray for good weather and calm seas, and lots of good stuff to find!!! I plan to be there the afternoon of Friday the 13th Tongue, See Ya Then.. ;D

Re:June 14-15th
Fred: Thanks for bringing the post back up to the top. Lonnie: I think Detroit Lakes for air (right???). And for those of us that don't follow directions very well (or get lost easily) do we have a meeting place set up and then go to Fred's etc...??? (Darn logistics...) How about a place in Perham (no , not the Barrel-o-fun plant) Seriously , if someone has a place to meet in mind , please let us (ME) know.

Re:June 14-15th
DIRECTIONS to CABIN (W.McDonald, e.shore):
My suggestion (speaking from experience) for coming from the cities is I-94 all the way to Exit 67 (Dalton), then Hwy 35 N. to left on (watch for this one) Hwy 41 which goes along the w. side of Star Lake then R. on Hwy 108 for approx 4 mi. Just after Round Lake/Wayside Rest (s.side of road), turn L. on Engstrom Beach Road, cabin is short of 2 miles in from 108 on L hand side, at Y stay to the right, redwood cabin & boathouse on left hand side, large lot. I can post fire number someday but not today.... I can print a dive flag and nail on the electrical post on the lot.

Nearest Air/Dive Shops is Detroit Lakes... a little inconvenient, but do-able.

Re:June 14-15th
I'm planning on this trip. I'll bring the tent in case cabin space isn't available. I'll probably have space if anyone wants to carpool.
