Re: 2011 First OW Dive Poll
I need a picture! I dove Tonka North Arm last Thursday, We broke bad ice about 3 inches think just off shore. Pulled a sled about 300 yards and dove a cut hole. (got 2 anchors but that's a different thread.  Wink )

I'm tired of waiting for ow...time to bust through some rotten ice... anyone see anything melted enough to slip in without cuting yet?

Re: 2011 First OW Dive Poll
Nothing in the south-east metro. It sounds like it's froze all the way to Iowa and some.

Now that we don't need iron, we can jump anything. We should find a flood plain and dive land! I know it's not safe but it would be funny to list a dive site as "Target Parking Lot 14 feet, vis bad, too many shopping carts"    8)

I'm in for this weekend, of course.  :Smile

OK, for those nonbelievers. here is the burning bush. Believe

dragged my gear down last weekend just to find it refroze.

Re: 2011 First OW Dive Poll
Ice fishing is fishing on the ice. Ive had my boat (on tonka) next to guys that walked out on ice freezing out from shore/bay  corrner.
at  that point there was both ice fishing and open water boating/fishing at the same time in nearly the same place. small side bays are like small separate lakes. conditions are different. will have open sidebays earlier. (also will have open water crappies showing up for just afew days on that edge)

Re: 2011 First OW Dive Poll
It's open I'll give you that but please don't go under without a line or something. That's still a lot of ice to get lost under. I had a little scare in Wazee one year so no more 'mixed-ice' for me.

Who is tending you?  You didn't have to crop the pic, I know where that is at.  ;D
