Re: Ice diving on Sat 1-9-10
Dougs got one more so we are maybe 9 or something. We'll need 2 holes for sure, if the ice isn't 3 feet we could maybe pull out a 3rd for an open hole and if a group gets board. I'd like an opportunity to dive a fresh hole.

I'll work out a dive chart so the buddy teams can sign up for spots. We'll need to organize a bit more and have at least an idea of the order of teams and whose on deck for safety. I'll organize that on the ice.

I need a lat/log or map to the ramp for Jim (he's not on mnscuba)

If its the public ramp just North (200') of the intersection of 47 and 27 right in Isle, the coordinates to that is: N46-08-595' W93-27-688'. The distance from the public ramp to the dive site is 3.06 miles. Here is a link to a map of the public ramp with directions from Minneapolis: =[200-299]+Mn-27&2z=56342&2y=US&2l=46.138015&2g=-93.47008&2v=BLOCK#b/maps/m:map:14:46.142893:-93.46071::::::1:1::::/l:::Minneapolis:MN::US:44.98:-93.263603:city::1:::/l::State+Route+27:Isle:MN:56342:US:46.141417:-93.462019:address:Mille+Lacs:1:::/io:1:::::f:en_US:M::/bl:/e

If you get to McQuoids Inn you have gone a bit too far.

The Ramp is 97.26 miles North of downtown Minneapolis. With good driving conditions it will take 1 hour and 50 minutes. At 18 MPG and using local fuel prices it will cost $14.85 to get there (and the same amount to get back).

You cant put a price on a good time!

Everyone have cell numbers?

Call someone if you run late. We'll not be far and I'd like to stay on time. If you run late, call one of us and you can come out when you arrive, were going to be easy to find and diving all day.

My numbers 952-201-3029, and I'll put up a 3'x5' dive flag off the back of my Maroon Silverado, well once were parked anyway. Looks like we could still use a topo-map if anyone has one of Millacs, and some munchies.    Terry

Re: Ice diving on Sat 1-9-10

For some reason the map link [size=10pt]defaulted to the center of the town of Isle and not the ramp but you all get the rough idea of where it is. [glow=red,2,300]Here is a link to a better map of the public ramp:[/glow]
I will be there at the ramp at 9:00 AM on Sunday 1-10-10. I will bring a couple ropes, a couple screws, and a harness for Terry. I will also bring a cooler to pour hot water in and soak our hoods/gloves in between dives. I will bring a couple larger lift bags too in case we find a couple "launch anchors" Smile

Looks like decent ice thickness.  Last report I saw was yesterday and 20 inches of ice over most of the lake.

Okay, but what about the important stuff? Are we going to grill?
Might as well make it a tailgate party!
