Looking for wreck dive site and dive buddy near Duluth/Lake Superior

Hello all,

my name is Martin and I'm from Germany. In September we are visiting relatives near Minneapolis. They want to take us up north to Duluth.

As I am a enthusiastic scuba diver and most of all wreck fanatic I cannot miss the chance jumping into the Lake Superior.

You can sure imagine that I don't know much about the Lake Superior, its wrecks and especially not the wreck dive sites near Duluth. I read many times that diving the Great Lakes is fantastic, so I don't want to miss it.

I'm open to everything which does not take more than half a day or almost a day. Could be a boat trip or just diving from the shore if any good wrecks are accessible from the shore.

I'm at Duluth on September, 21st and 22nd, which are Sunday and Monday. I plan to bring my diving gear with me, maybe I leave the BCD and the regulators at home, but I also plan to bring those. So I need to borrow tank(s), weights (and maybe BCD and regulators if they don't fit into my luggage). I have a dry suit (sure! ), also ice water proofed regulators and over 400 logged dives, most of them in cold dark German and Austrian lakes.

Maybe someone can help me or even wants to go diving with me. I'm would be very happy if I can join an ongoing diving tour, private or commercial. I would also be happy if this is not possible if there is someone who is doing guided dives. Not really necessary but also fine. I just want to get into the water.

And also important: What dive sites and mostly what wrecks can you suggest near Duluth? As you read time is short, only one day, so I don't want/can spend time as I like.

Martin, we will be hosting our monthly fun dives on the North Shore that weekend and we'll be at one of the wreck sites on Saturday and Sunday Sept. 20 & 21.  The Mediera & Hesper shipwrecks are our normal stops for the weekends and they are approx. 1 1/2 hr north of Duluth.  You could certainly join us if interested and we could even arrange rental gear for you if needed.  You can private message me if you'd like more info, and you can check out the dives at
