Re:Helicopters for Ore-be-Gone
Sounds like fun Rick. Have you decided where you will be putting these down and at what depths?

Re:Helicopters for Ore-be-Gone
To start off the depths on these items will not exceed 70 feet from the high water mark. In discussion with other areas and what I have seen else where we want these sights to be available to Jr. AOW divers. We are working on obtaining a 100' tower which will bottom out at 110'. We will have different location of items. We see a need to spread out we do have a large pit there to use and no need to congest things in one area. We have started putting items down on the south side which have three ramps down to the water for car access and are looking at two area in which there will be a little swim to reach them. This will let divers dive one area like the beach and then pack up and move like to the south side and dive that. We have had divers come with boats so it will work out good in that manner. We figure it will take us a good week plus some days to dive and prep for the placement of the items. We are looking at the end of July to complete this. We are bring in the items now and we have to clean and make them diver friendly and because the planes and helicopters have to be transported in sections they will have to be assembled.
If any of the divers that like to do 100' + dives can aquire something good to put down and want to tackle the project we will be willing to help out with logists and let you run with it. The big thing is that it is cleaned and made diver friendly and inspected before going in. We have large lift bags to make this happen 2- 4400 lb bags and 2- 6000 lb bags.
If any want to do something for the more tech divers contact us and we'll talk.

Hmm...I'm thinking Ore Be Gone could use a Gazing Ball down deeper like at Wazee. No liftbag needed for that one though...LOL! Smile

Brings back memories of days gone by. They will be great. How much repair will you do to these before you put them down?

Re:Helicopters for Ore-be-Gone
Well one helicopter our gunship needs the 2 rotors and they are on the way and it will be ready to put down Yes it has a mini-gun in the nose We have some repair work and assembly involved. We already have 64.5 hours into this one and the tail of the huey. We expect about another 24 to 32 hours and they both will be ready for sinking

Re:Helicopters for Ore-be-Gone
Be careful, you parked your huey next to a fire hydrant.

Re:Helicopters for Ore-be-Gone
How do you get them to the spot you want to sink them. are you going to put them out on the ice in the spring and let mother nature do the work or do you have to float them out some how?
