Wondering what that might be like, especially for carp hunting. I am sometimes down in that territory.

Never dove the lakes down there but have spent lots of time hunting carp and buffalo with bow. Very large fish and plenty of them. |

RE: Has anyone ever dove the Iowa Great Lakes?
I went diving in Okoboji a couple times about 10 years ago. There used to be two dive shops on the lake. Our shore dives generally followed discharge pipes leading to large tower structures in the lake. You would find an unbelievable number of fish congregating around these towers.
The best time to dive the lakes is early spring or late fall, once the boat traffic decreases on the lakes. You absolutely need to tow a surface marker with you and be prepared for curious boaters. Surface conditions can get a bit choppy due to boat wakes.
