Calhoun Dive
Started from the north beach on Sunday morning. Convenient parking and access. Parking is 75 cents/hr.
Three of us, Pat, Ken and I, intended to swim SE from the beach and follow the profile down toward the 80ft hole. Swam out 1/2 hr and reached a max D of 45ft. Viz was bad: swimming an arms lenth away from Ken, I could see pretty much only the silver bulk of his tank. Pat, on the other side of Ken, was totally invisible even though she had her bright yellow RB on. A 10W HID really didn't help. There was so much particulate in the water that the light just produced a blinding glare. Above the thermocline - about 27ft - I was really warm in a DS with Weezle. Found a one foot long rubber aligator poking his head out of the silt. Not a great dive, but still a dive! Thanks Pat and Ken.
