waters perfect!
not sure if anyone is in this forum recently. but the last couple snorkling trips ive done in this week were perfect. water clarity is going up dramaticaly as the temperture drops.. river is now chilly but super clear. i think in some spots 8ft.
tonka last week was also 8ft durring the weekend!! i found a very cool and unusual snail that was almost as big as a fist. i t hink over 2inches in diameter. looks like an apple snail like the ones that litter square lake, just much bigger.

Re: waters perfect!
funny you say that. i was thinking the same thing!
doyou think they are eddible?? how about the big apple snails anyone try eating them??? perhaps the aquatic snails arent so good. many years ago a pall of mine got the idea to collect freshwater musles to make a meal. we spent half a day collecting filling the bottom of a canoe with them. once cooked they shrank down so small you could hardly pick them up with a fork. besides the sand in them, they didnt have all that much flavor. somewhat dissapointing. after the sampling the first batch, we released a massive hord of musles that would over the next few days and weeks slowly migrate away from the site.

Re: waters perfect!
well, 7days later. vis is done! this last weekend was nuts on tonka. all the launches were full, with rigs parked up and down the back streets. everyone was getting the last summer day on the lake. vis was 1ft on the main lake were trafic was pounding waves. back bays were better at 3-4ft. also lake is turning over slightly and should be becoming green as the weeds start to die off. then it will clear up again. roughly end of october. before it clouds up again from turnover. finaly clearing up the finally as it ices up. fishing should pic up after this green goes away!
