Not sure if KC would be considered local or distant...oh well, I'll try it in here. Anyone ever dive anywhere near KC?? I have a couple of friends that are going to KU and I am planning on going down there in June to go diving with them, just thought I would check here since I found this forum. TIA Mike

I grew up in KC and moved here a couple of years ago. I did BOW the first time in 1985 and there ain't much down there. That explains why I didn't do any diving for 15 years. The closest lake would be Smithville. Still pretty much a mudhole. I remember hunting in areas that were flooded to create the lake. The nearest "good" diving is a couple of hours south, Stockton, Pomme de Terre, Tablerock, Bull Shoals, Beaver in Arkansas, Lake of the O if you can avoid getting run down. We get down there a couple of times a year to visit family and I haven't bothered to bring gear because there isn't anything nearer than 2-3 hours. I would be interested to find out where your friends are planning to dive. JoelW

I finally made definate plans with my friends in KC. It sounds like his thought are to head to Table Rock or Beaver, I see you mentioned both of those...do you know anything about them. I have done a quick search on the web and found quite a few sites but haven't read them all yet. Thanks, Mike

I know of a place to dive in MO. A friend of mine told me about the Bonne Terre Mine in Bridgeton, MO. They have a web site, check it out. I dont know how far Bridgeton is from KC.
