Re: Ice removal device
Do you know what those tie down points are rated to hold? I'm an electrical engineer not a mechanical one, but there has ato be 1000 pounds of force on them or more. They are designed just to hold straps to hold down a load not support it all. I think mine are just welded to the bed sheet metal. Is there a concern of them bending or ripping off?

Re: Ice removal device
Thats a Great question! I just spent 45 minutes calling a Chevrolet dealer first and then General Motors Corporation itself and they were dumbfounded as to what these "tie down eyes'" are rated for. Maybe they are just for decoration ??? |

Re: Ice removal device
Worst case scenario, you could always go through the truck bed and down to the frame, Like a pickup topper tie down. Or simply have a Ford super duty there . I like the jack stand addition. If you had a swivel one you could still swivel it and use it to push the ice in the hole. Can't wait to try it out next year 8)
