Just when you thought you were safe underwater....
I just got my '08 Oceanreef dealer packet. Check out this pretty brochure at (about 2/3 of the way up from the bottom of the page.) "It seems there are only a few places on earth that could not be reached by cellular calls. The earth's oceans are no exception. The sea covers over 70% of the worlds surface, yet receiving an underwater phone call has never been possible, until now." Thank god! Finally! Yes, now the kids can call you while you're on a dive so you don't have to miss the sibling arguments over the Wii. Oh no! You forgot to call about a new windshield for your truck! Don't worry, UWCP should have you covered! Now you will be able to get those important telemarketing calls. And, you won't have to worry about falling asleep underwater because the ringing phone should keep you awake! Granted this would work for diver to diver comms, maybe better than the buddy-phone or other hard-wire systems, but I think that if my buddy were to start chatting on a cell while we were diving, over our surface interval he may develop some equipment malfunction that would prevent him from doing that second tank with me... > |

Re: Just when you thought you were safe underwater....
A couple caveats with this system. It uses a 40 meter cable to connect the mic unit to a surface buoy. A water resistant box sits on top of the buoy. You place a bluetooth-enabled cellphone into the water resistant box. So basically this device is just a really long bluetooth cellular headset. My guess is that it uses voice activated dialing.

MSRP?
Ask your doctor if getting off your ass is right for you.
