N Florida Caves - Madison Blue / Peacock
Just finished 4 days of diving in the caves near Live Oak, FL. Stayed at one of Rennaker's trailers and did several great dives in both Peacock Springs and for the first time up at Madison Blue Springs. I thing Madison Blue is my new favorite (Telford still is really, but it's currently closed to access). The Godzilla room circuit is really interesting, even though it's fairly tight.
I'm down in Key Largo for a couple of warm water CCR dives before I have to turn around and drive back to the cold. Here are a couple of pictures. Enjoy! I'll post more when I get home next week. Jeff

Re: N Florida Caves - Madison Blue / Peacock
yes, we had a real good time. We headed down for 3 days diving out of Key Largo after this and got several very nice dives on the CCR on the Spiegel Grove.
I've been in downstream Cow a couple of times. I finally have the experience where I would feel comfortable doing a site as fragile as Cow. I've heard the backmount entrance can be hard to find. Jeff

The upstream side is easier to find now that its been beaten up a bit : (
Still pretty tight in backmount. My favorite so far. I hooked up with a local when I was down there in Nov and we entered Manatee at the Friedman sink then did a drift dive to mouth of Manatee. Its a huge cave and viz was a little murky (comparable to Missouri). Still a heck of a lot of fun - 2200' of drifting! |
