Ice Dive Minnetonka 3/15-3/16
Well, anybody want to dive the Minnetonka wrecks this weekend. There's been plenty of talk already so you know the deal. Hopkins, sidewheeler, sternwheeler. Multiple wrecks possibly. I'm gonna verify the locations with a drop camera this week and be out there around 9am Sat for sure. I think the best access is off Cty rd 15 just past Sailor's World Marina then head for Big Island. Ice should be good, not much snow, should be warm. No excuses. Hope to see you there. No charge, just fun.

Alright, looks like we're gonna do it on Sunday only. Be on the ice between Sailor's World and Big Island around 9 or 10 am. OK then Bye Bye now.

Re: Ice Dive Minnetonka 3/15-3/16
Had a good day of diving on the sternwheeler today. Vis was 10-15ft which was plenty good. Sternwheeler is pretty big. Hull mostly intact, rear kinda broken up but I could see the rudder post. Sits only a foot or two off the mudd. Completely flat with deck mostly still there, no superstructure except a couple small pipes and rails. No evidence of the paddlewheel. It's quite skinny yet very long. I couldn't get all the way to the front as I ran out of rope. A delicious bass was chillin' on the deck and wasn't bothered by us. We were right over the wreck in about 46' with 26" clear ice. The chain broke on the chainsaw so we had to cut the hole with the ice auger! Work just fine actually! Weather was very nice when the sun was out.Didn't even set up the shelter. Looking forward to a couple more weekends out there yet. Lots more wrecks to check out.
