Re:wetsuits
Nice thread. ;D
We're a family of divers on the cheap also. Although we keep saying that sooner or later we'll go dry the price tag certainly keeps us from running out and getting one. I'm sure we'll be wet for quite a while yet. Dry is however simply inevitable. When doing eighty-ninety percent of our diving we wear a skin and 7mm wetsuits with hoods, gloves and booties and are just fine. Since most of the plants and fish usually are within twenty to forty feet of the surface this is where we spend the most time (it also means we make some real long dives) As indicated before the only time the cold really becomes an issue for us is at depth below the thermocline. I've been thinking this year of trying to layer an additional step through jacket style shortie over a wetsuit for additional warmth for those dives where we do go deep. The other issue is my wife's hands. Her hands are always the first things to get cold. She has tried heavy three fingered gloves and found them only slightly better than her âregular" gloves. This year I think weâll be trying a pair of three finger gloves over her regular gloves to see if that helps. |
