Long Lake - MNdivergirl - 07-08-2003
The dive club from Bemidji spent the day at Long Lake near Lake Itasca. Visibility 18-20 ft, surface temps 78, noticeable change in temp at 13-14 ft 73 degrees 18-20 ft 71 degrees with a thermocline sitting around 25ft. Some braver divers..decided it was too hot to struggle with a wetsuit, so we, (oops, yes I was one of the brave)went without, of course 18 ft was the max depth without getting a brain freeze you wouldn't forget LOL!
Lots of fish, northerns, perch, rockbass and smallmouth. Of course there was the school of bluegill looking for a handout during the entire dive. Best dive of the year!

Which Long Lake is this? Is it the one just east of Park Rapids off 34? I dove there last year and saw all kinds of neat things. That lake is reportedly 130 feet deep!

I'm assuming the Long Lake Michelle was referring to was the one near Bagley, MN. Click on the "Lake Info" tab at the top of the Forums page for a picture and brief description of the lake.

It's off 200 and as far as I know max depth is around 80ft, according to depth maps.
