sailboat on bottom in calhoun - Hydro - 04-20-2010 hey, i noticed there isnt any mention of the sailboat on the bottom in calhoun... i got some video of it sitting there today. i guess since DetectorGuy found one last weekend i guess i needed to find one too. (but pple knew about this one before) Re: sailboat on bottom in calhoun - mermaid - 04-20-2010 Nice video Joe...Looking forward to seeing some more wrecks this season (when the water temp warms up . ) Re: sailboat on bottom in calhoun - Shooter - 04-21-2010 Nice video. Thanks for posting 8) Re: sailboat on bottom in calhoun - DetectorGuy - 04-21-2010 Nice video Hydro. It looked like it had a wood mast but I couldn't tell. Was the stern broken or was it partially burried in the silt? Just to clarify the boat we found was actually found by Shooter a couple minutes before I swam up to it. This boat we found may have been previously found by other divers. but the intel that led us to it was from rumors of local residents and Lee at Smith Diving (who later denied that there were any sunk boats on Spectacle). So this one only counts as a possible un documented wreck. Stay tuned for a seperate thread with a challenge for finding NEW wrecks (how ever large or small they may be). This may spark some interest in diving of the less popular lakes. There are 10,000 lakes in this god forsaken state and we as divers typically only dive in about 3 dozen of them. Re: sailboat on bottom in calhoun - Indigo Blues - 04-21-2010 Another great job on the video - although I don't think that boat looks like smooth sailing anymore : Re: sailboat on bottom in calhoun - Hydro - 04-21-2010 i didnt dig around enough to find out, i figured there wasnt any trinkets around it, and if the other 2 guys came over i didnt want to destroy the vis... its in a lot of silt, i grabbed 10' pipe near it, and just touching it, messed up the vis... it might be intact, i don't know. |
