Anyone dove Deep Portage Lake near Brainard? - Chadwick - 03-29-2004
My dad tells me that is about 90-110 ft deep, and beautiful aqua blue and very clear. He compared it to the waters in Cancun. Tons of fish there as well.
Based on that, I'd think a lot of people would dive this lake but I've never heard of anyone diving there, only nearby Crosby/Ironton.
Has anyone been to this lake? Is it a good place to dive?

this looks interesting... DNR lakesfinder puts it at over 18' sechi reading.. Very small lake though... 120 acres or so.

Ahh, I did read on the DNR site that a lot of the lake was 15' deep. With a clarity of 18+ it would appear to be very clear. Well, I'll try diving it anyway. heh. It's right up by Crosby/Ironton so if it isn't very good, I can always sneak on over there. hehe.
