Save-a-dive kits - Chadwick - 09-09-2003 I am curious as to what everyone keeps in their dive kits? I've never seen one of these kits detailed out, but everywhere talks about them. I can imagine things like duct tape, extra fin straps, extra mask, etc? What do you have in yours? Thanks, -Chad Re:Save-a-dive kits - LKunze - 09-09-2003 Some of the extra things I bring with most of the time: >spare mask strap >extra braided nylon line >extra bungee cord >fish line >lighter (for melting the ends of line and bungee) >various bolt snaps >spare dive light >spare turtle fin (since I lost one in Superior and had to buy a new pair :) >super glue >aquaseal >Sea Gold mask defogger >wet gloves (in case something happens to the dry gloves) >various wrenches for reg hoses >extra hoses >batteries >battery charger >car dc/ac power inverter >spare o-rings >silicone grease >zipper wax >extra soft weights Re:Save-a-dive kits - Chris - 09-09-2003 Lonnie, is it the right or left fin? Re:Save-a-dive kits - jasondbaker - 09-09-2003 I have two kits -- one that I carry wth me to shore dives in a tool case and a second smaller kit for charters. A couple more items to add: -- medical kit/ bandages -- tools: allen wrenches, pliers, screwdriver, snips -- fish ID cards -- duct tape -- spare light bulb -- various little hose adapters -- inner tube pieces -- mask strap -- suntan lotion Basically you have to think about all the problems you could encounter and what you would need to save the dive trip. You don't want to find yourself up in say Silver Bay with a major problem I'm adding a replacement latex neck seal to my kit. Re:Save-a-dive kits - LKunze - 09-10-2003 Yeah, somehow I knew that was coming. Re:Save-a-dive kits - airdownthere - 11-19-2003 For you dry suit folks, Diving Concepts makes a Rapid Cuff Repair Kit that will allow a person to install a new, albeit temporary wrist seal on to their dry suit. The process takes about 10-15 minutes and works like a champ. Most importantly you can make the repair in the field. I have these in the store if you'd like to take a look. |
