Yes, Bad Medicine is just south of Itasca State Park and about a 40 minute drive north (and a bit west) of Park Rapids. We've made 4 dives on 2 separate trips so far on different parts of the lake and saw crayfish each time as well as a couple good size trout on one dive and some kind of old, wooden structure on another dive which we couldn't identify!
It's a spring-fed lake with no inlet or outlet and currently it is at a very high level. Apparently it's been rising as there are some cabins and out-buildings partly in the water along with a road that is partially submurged which leads to an island. A sign at the public access mentions the 'extremely high water level'.
There are 3 resorts on this lake and we've camped at two of them: Bad Medicine Resort and Veronen's. Of those 2 choices I'd recommend Veronen's as we were not impressed with the owner of Bad Medicine Resort--he wasn't too friendly or helpful. Veronen's is a bit farther to travel, but we're going back there.
