I got a dry suit this winter too and have never dove one. I am certainly open to an early dive.

Wazee opens early so does WI count? I've ran over there a few time to get my fix. Vis suffers the first few weeks.

unless it is mn, it doesnt count... otherwise all the Caribbean kids would think they win.
the rivers are open... but i don't think i want it bad enough to jump in floodstage water

No way, rivers are out. Most of us don't have that training.

I dove the Madeira several years ago in March. Just need to watch for pack ice blowing in. From the sattelite views, looks like the ice was pretty light this year.

Having never dove in a drysuit, nor ever done any ice diving, I don't think winter is the right time to make the first dive
