Ore b gone mine - seahuntjerry - 06-18-2009

Hi,
has anyone been up there this year?
I know the beach was closed last year?

                Thanks,Jerry

I am heading up there tomorrow.

Re: Ore b gone mine - JBPearson - 06-18-2009

Was up there the end of May.  Beach is still closed but entry is pretty easy by the shallow platform.  We raised the buoy on one of the speeders and then tried going into the bay off the right of the beach but the viz was horrible at the 25' thermocline.  The main area out from the beach and ramp wasn't bad.  We're heading back up over the 4th so I'm anxious to see if it's changed.  We never got over to the other pits though so don't know how they are.

There were a couple other pairs up there at the same time.  I know they raised the buoy on the small helicopter as we were leaving.

Here are a couple shots of the low water level at the beach.  The visibility was the best I've seen there in a few years.  It was probably 25 feet out in front of the beach and over at the speeders.  It was a bit cloudy over at the helicopter but it usually is over there.

If the beach is closed, where is the entry point for divers or do you still use the beach

Re: Ore b gone mine - LKunze - 06-21-2009

The easiest entry/exit points are either at the very far right side of the beach kind of inline with the swimmer changing rooms, opposite side of the fishing pier or at the boat launch.

A few of us from Innerspace were up there this weekend.  Shane finished popping the buoys up...the ones we fought with to get down last fall.  There must be some trick to pulling down something THAT buoyant! :-\

Viz was really good east of the boat landing.  It was really poor to the right of the beach, back by the speeders and "bicycle graveyard" around the bend...really milky back there.

Great day of diving today...77 degrees and sun most of the day.

Are there still air fills available up there anywhere?
